Questions About Our Psychological Services

What is a Mental Health Care Plan?

You can speak to your GP about a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), this is essentially a referral from your GP to a psychologist. This will allow you to claim a Medicare rebate for the psychology sessions to help cover the costs. If you are eligible to be bulk billed you must have a MHCP. Please email your MHCP through to us  after you have booked your appointment via HotDoc. MHCP’s are usually valid in any one calendar year (Jan-Dec). Initially you will normally be referred for 6 sessions, you will then need to see you GP again for a further 4 sessions after a review. You do not need a MHCP to see a psychologist at Coordinated Healthcare, but if you do not have one you will be charged a private fee.

Can I claim on my private health insurance?

Yes you can if you have private health insurance and it does cover psychological services. The amount you can claim will vary depending on your coverage. Please email us the name of your insurer so that we can make sure we are registered with them. We are registered with most health funds.

Do you offer services to TAC, Workcover, NDIS, MyAgedCare, & DVA Clients

Yes, we offer these services with no out of pocket costs to the you the client, we will need authorisation from them prior to sessions commencing, this would involve you obtaining a letter from them stating how many sessions they are willing to fund.

How much do sessions cost?

The standard cost of a 46-55 minute session according to the Australian Psychological Society is $280 per session. Coordinated Healthcare offers the following discounted fees:

TAC, Workcover, NDIS, MyAgedCare and DVA clients are charged the reference fees for those organisations with no out of pocket for the client.

Private fee clients are charged $150 for a 50 minute session (this amount can be claimed via your private health insurance or you can claim a medicare rebate of $89.65 with a MHCP).

If you have a valid Health Care Card and a MHCP, your sessions will be bulk billed

What type of appointments do you have?

We are predominately a telehealth clinic, we offer phone and video appointments and have the latest, secure telehealth systems. We strongly recommend a video appointment where possible. We can organise a face to face appointment but this will need to be discussed with the clinic first.
